The progressive movement of nature-based education is growing. In the era of COVID-19, parents and teachers are seeking out healthier ways to gather and learn while engaging in playful, stress-reducing activities that nurture skill development. Our discussion will explore what nature-based education is, provide context for understanding what forest and nature schools are, and offer a glimpse into how nature-based programs facilitate outdoor learning. The first portion is a 60 minute lecture with a 30 minute Q&A session to follow. NOTE: This presentation includes translation for Chinese attendees who requested this informative session.
Presenter: Monica Wiedel-Lubinski, Director of the Eastern Region Association of Forest and Nature Schools and author of Nature Play Workshop for Families: A Guide to 40+ Outdoor Learning Experiences in All Seasons.
